Background

What our members say

“We joined Growcom because we were relatively new to the horticulture industry. From working in other areas of farming, we were aware of the value of industry organisations and what they could do regarding advocacy, supply of information and keeping us in touch with the wider industry. Growcom certainly does all these things, and more.

My husband and I started Tinaberries nearly a decade ago, and we grow strawberries and passionfruit on 200 hectares, located in Bundaberg and Childers. We sell to the wholesale markets in Melbourne and Harris Farm in Sydney.

I can’t rave highly enough about all the Growcom departments. Each one has been essential over the years.

If I was looking back, probably the most essential has been the industrial relations (IR) information. In horticulture, compliance is vital, and because we are a highly labour intensive industry, IR regulations are among the most important things that we have to comply safemdonline.com with.

Initially we accessed Growcom’s IR team to help us set in place a workplace agreement.  Since then, the services offered have been critical in keeping us up to date with Award obligations, and Workplace Health & Safety obligations. It’s also great to have a quick response when you are dealing with a difficult staffing issue. They are always there with the answer that you need.

We find the magazine and email newsletters vital to keeping us abreast of issues, and knowing what’s happening throughout Queensland. We’ve also valued having a local contact in the Bundaberg area, and having the access to training.”
