Growcom is now offering Freshcare Food Safety and Quality (Fresh Produce) code training courses. Growcom's staff understand your business and tailor the training to your needs, to ensure you get the most from your training and time away from your business.

Freshcare On-Farm Assurance is an industry owned, quality assurance program that is accepted by many fresh fruit and vegetable packers, wholesalers, processors, and retailers, Australia wide.

As a HACCP based program and using descriptive good agricultural practices, Freshcare Food Safety and Quality code gives horticultural growers and packers the tools to identify and manage food safety and quality risks on farm. By implementing and maintaining the code, horticultural businesses can demonstrate to customers the food safety and quality compliance of their produce.

Freshcare has recently revised its Food Safety and Quality (Fresh Produce) code. Due to the significant changes that were made to the previous version of the code, Version 2, the technical steering committee identified that all existing certified growers would need to undertake training to transition to the latest version, Version 3.

Upgrade to V3 - pain free!

The obligatory training component for growers wishing to implement Version 3 has assisted to gain the acceptance of the major retailers for Freshcare’s Food Safety and Quality (Fresh Produce) code. Growers have until February 2011 to upgrade to Version 3.

Growcom is offering group training sessions (for growers transitioning to Version 3) which will be rolled out across the state from next month. Growers undertaking Freshcare training in a group training session may be eligible for a FarmReady reimbursement grant.
