Rural Industry Action Plan

Rural Industry Action Plan 2008-10 (PDF, 573 kB)

The rural industry action plan was released on 5 March 2008 to support the second stage of the Queensland Workplace Health and Safety Strategy 2004-12, which aims to reduce the incidence of work-related injuries by 40 per cent and fatalities by 20 per cent.

Industry specific initiatives in this action plan include:

  • Providing on-property health and safety workshops for the cattle and horticulture industries.
  • Providing workshops in safer systems of work to reduce injuries associated with farm vehicles, elevating work platforms, animal handling, picking ladders, knives and preventing leptospirosis.
  • Investigating the feasibility of developing a health and safety induction program for all people who work in rural industries.
